We are Jeff and Jessie Dorn. We live in the first floor apartment of an old New England home in Milford, MA. We only recently moved into this new place so we are enjoying setting up our new home with our dog Emma (more about her later). We just celebrated our first Christmas in our new home and Jessie did a wonderful job decorating the apartment for Christmas!
We love talking to our family members located across the United States and spending time with our friends. We also enjoy music, cooking, fishing, gardening, reading, watching football, and spending time with our dog Emma. You can read more about Emma below! Jeff is an avid nature photographer. His Facebook page is full of photos he has taken over the years. (Some of these photos are also available below.)
Jeff is an ordained priest with the Anglican Church in North America. We currently attend an Anglican parish in Norwood, Massachusetts, where Jeff regularly participates in Sunday worship. Jeff is a teacher at a Christian school where he teaches sixth-grade history and fourth-grade reading, language arts, science, and math. Jeff is also involved in the leadership of ALPHA Courses in the Anglican Diocese in New England.
Jessie is an educator and an exceptionally gifted one at that! She teaches literature, English, and writing to grades six through twelve at the same school. She strives to make personal connections with the students and make the stories fun and relevant for today.
While it’s true that all you just read is part of our One Epic Story, it was not until the fall of 2019 that we began to look at life in this context.
In August 2019, Jeff was diagnosed with a brain tumor in his right frontal lobe. We later found out it was a Stage IV Glioblastoma (brain cancer). Surgery was required to remove the golf ball-sized tumor, followed by an aggressive radiation and chemotherapy regimen.*
God spoke to both of us as we were rushed by ambulance to a Boston hospital. “This is going to be an epic story,” God told us, “a story for our good and God’s glory.”
The understanding of what God is doing continues to sustain us to this day. Now, we want to share the message of hope for people that God is writing One Epic Story for all of His children: He is writing One Epic Story in your life!
*(Today, Jeff is doing miraculously well. He has regular MRIs to check on the remaining cancer, but reports continue to be positive.)
