Music has always played an important role in our lives. I grew up singing old gospel and cowboy songs with my Dad and Grandpop. Dad plays banjo, mandolin, and harmonica and Grandpop played guitar, fiddle, and a pump organ. Actually, the more I think about it, I think Grandpop could play anything with strings! My wife Jessie also grew up in a house that was always filled with music. Both of our musical tastes are quite diverse and we love a good live show. It is hard to think of our lives without music. Jessie often says "our life is a musical because Jeff is always singing!"
As I child I was extremely shy when it came to public speaking. I had no desire to up in front of people talking about anything. I could sing to anyone anywhere, but it wasn't really until I came to know Christ that I felt more confident speaking in front of people. My time as a radio DJ in college had a lot to do with my growth as a public speaker. I could talk and talk into a microphone, people may have been listening, but I could not see them. It was here that I found my voice. Now, it is hard to get me to stop talking!
Images of the Story: Photos of our life and ministry
I fell in love with nature at a very early age. For most of our childhood, my brother and I would spend hours playing and exploring in the woods behind our house. In the fifth grade we learned about birds. Mr. Nace taught us everything we needed to know about birds and so much more. Most importantly, he taught us to identify the birds of North America. This knowledge has stuck with me all these years and I am always looking to the skies to see what is flying or perched overhead. As an adult, that love of nature has only grown stronger as I know the appreciation of the Creation is an act of worship. In our photo gallery I have included some of my favorite nature shots. I hope you enjoy them. Oh yeah, there are also some ministry pics too!
